Many homebuilt, antique, warbird and general aviation aircraft are expected throughout the day, along with a variety of displays and exhibits.
All Chapter 55 events are held at Mason Jewett Airport; Eden Road @ Kipp Road (south of the Ingham County Fairgrounds). Admission and parking for all events is FREE. Donations benefit the Newberry Aviation Scholarship Fund.
Childrenz Challenge
Head down to Michigan International Speedway for a day in the mud that you and your kids will never forget. These mud-drenched obstacle courses offer children a chance to use strength, stamina and teamwork in a fun, low-pressure environment. The event benefits local education and awards cash prizes as high as $6,000 to schools and teachers with the highest percentages of student participation.
A Jackson Rite of PassageChildrenz Challenge happens August 17th, 2019, rain or shine, and features two courses: a 1.5-mile course for ages 4-8 and a 2-mile course for ages 9-13. In addition to twists and turns, the courses include mud mounds, slopes, tunnels, swings and more; over 20 kinds of obstacles total. Race volunteers will be present throughout the courses to ensure safety.
For the ParentsEnthusiastic spectators are encouraged! Families can cheer from “the sidelines” and take as many photos as they’d like. The great thing about this challenge is it isn’t a race, participation is the only thing that matters at the Childrenz Challenge. If kids can’t complete an obstacle, they can choose to go around it. There’s no pressure!
If you're traveling from far and away and require overnight accomodations please note the Super 8 Brooklyn is the Official Host Hotel of the Childrenz Challenge. For a complete list of Jackson County hotels please click here.
Getting There: Michigan International Speedway is located in Brooklyn, about 20 miles south of Jackson. To register, visit ChildrenzChallenge.com.
