LANSING, Mich. — The Shalom Center for Justice and Peace and Central United Methodist Church are privileged to host our keynote speakers, Rev. Dr. Jill Hardt Zundel and Rev. Paul Perez, who will speak on Immigration’s Quagmire. Please attend on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capitol Ave, Lansing, MI.

Rev. Dr. Jill Hardt Zundel serves as the pastor of Central United Methodist Church in downtown Detroit. As the pastor of a sanctuary church, Rev. Zundel has met with senators and members of Congress to plead the case of families seeking sanctuary. She has “walked her talk” by undertaking a 90-mile pilgrimage from Detroit to Lansing to bring awareness to this situation. Rev. Zundel also traveled to the southern border to bear witness with other faith leaders in San Diego. She continues to speak out about immigration reform and justice for all.

The Rev. Paul Perez is an ordained deacon and serves as the Associate Director for Mission and Ministry for the Michigan Conference, United Methodist Church. Previously, Rev. Perez was the founding director of Justice for Our Neighbors Southeastern Michigan, a United Methodist related immigration legal aid organization with locations in Detroit, Dearborn, and Ypsilanti. He is a beacon of light and hope for those who seek a better life in the United States.

All are welcome and admission is free. Refreshments and fellowship to follow. Numerous area churches and civic organizations will be hosting tables to showcase how they help serve their community.
This event is part of the community-wide PeaceQuest 2019 in honor of the International Day of Peace. Please mark your calendars and invite your friends for this extraordinary program and speakers!
