LANSING, Mich. — Back in 2012, Takeru Kobayashi of New York ate 337 wings in front of 20,000 people at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia setting a national record at the Wing Festival. This August 31st – Sept. 1st, Michigan residents will experience once again for the 5th year the Michigan Chicken Wing Festival taste popping wings with vendors from throughout the region with over 25 flavors of wings, such as blueberry bbq, garlic parmesan, jerk, gluten free, hot wings and so many more.
The Michigan Chicken Wing Festival is holding down its’ position as a host of a National “Wing Bowls” spanning across America, as we expand continue to hold our position we bring in live entertainment – we’ve spawned across the ocean with our entertainment, featuring International Rock Band FLEMT, who toured with Bon Jovi and Alaska touring Rock Band Garden of Agony. We welcome all our food and merchandise vendors, community vending, beer, wine, wing eating and tasting and best sauce contest, helicopter rides, pro wrestling and a host of activities for the kids including: a fun house, carnival games, superheroes, and more. The weekend of activities will culminate with a Cornhole Tournament on Sunday, Sunday – Sept. 1st with a guarantee Cash Prize.
Festival Organizer, Shirley M. Carter-Powell, Phenomenal Entertainment Ltd. has spread her wings beyond bringing the first city-wide attraction during Labor Day Weekend since 1999 to Lansing, she has also attached a worthy cause in taking up the reigns of supporting Breast Cancer and other Cancer Awareness. Against All Odds Foundation will be present and receiving a portion of the funds to provide support to underserved cancer patients and survivors with their imminent needs thru the Bobbie Jackson Fund. According to the Center for Disease Control, over 124,000 cases of breast cancer emerge yearly in the state of Michigan since 2011.
The Michigan Chicken Wing Festival gates open on Saturday – 8/31 @ 2 PM until 10PM and Sunday – 9/1 @ 2 PM – 11 PM This event is Free to Cancer Survivors, VETs, Seniors 65 & over and Kids 12 and under.
