BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Runners can soon pounce on the opportunity to speed through Binder Park Zoo’s fastest fundraiser of the season. The 13th annual Cheetah Chase 5k takes place Saturday, June 22nd. Racers will course through the lush habitats of the zoo from Wild Africa and back taking strides for cheetah conservation along the way. For $40/person, participants receive race entry into either the Gazelle Gallop or Sloth Walk, free day-of admission to the zoo, a Cheetah Chase tech race shirt, and their first Bell’s Brewery beer free (for 21+ with valid ID only). Post-race brews will also be available for all zoo guests at two locations on zoo grounds throughout the day featuring Oberon Ale and Official Hazy IPA. Register online today for the Cheetah Chase 5k at binderparkzoo.org.
NEW this year, the zoo will host an early registration ‘Blitz for Cheetah Chase’ at the Bell’s Eccentric Café in Kalamazoo on Wednesday, June 12 from 5-7pm. Race enthusiasts can enjoy happy hour while registering for the Chase at $5 off and socializing with zoo staff. Those who register at the event will be entered in a drawing to win a prize pack including: zoo admission for a family of four, premium zoo swag, and a six-pack surprise!
Back this year is “Cots & Spots” - the overnight experience for Cheetah Chasers to spend the night in one of Wild Africa’s eight tented camps. This special overnight experience on Friday, June 21st, features a “Predators vs. Prey” themed program and includes a carb-loading spaghetti dinner, evening hike, morning yoga, and more! Up to four people per tent is a flat fee of $240, and each additional person up to eight is $50 apiece. Zoo members receive 10% off. Participants must be at least six years of age. Some restrictions apply. Space is limited, so sign up for the “Cots & Spots” soon at binderparkzoo.org.
Not only is the Cheetah Chase a fast paced, fun event, but it is a fundraiser to support the nonprofit zoo and its conservation initiatives. Proceeds go towards Binder Park Zoo’s cheetah conservation efforts. Although cheetah populations once flourished throughout much of Africa and Asia, today’s populations need our help to remain in the wild and avoid loss of habitat and poaching. Sign up today to make a difference.
Register for the Cheetah Chase online by 11:59pm EST on Thursday, June 20, 2019 or submit a mail-in form postmarked no later than Monday, June 17, 2019. Pre-registration costs $40 and day-of registration is $50. For more information, visit binderparkzoo.org or call (269) 979-1351.
