LANSING, Mich. — GREAT will be paddling from Vandercook Lake County Park to Ella Sharp Park in Jackson on Sunday, July 21. This 4.6 mile trip should take 2.5 to 4 hours. They’ll put in at the Vandercook Lake boat launch located at the east end of Floyd/Avenue C St (approx. address is 320 Avenue C St, Jackson, MI). Enjoy the great variety of this route as paddlers will experience two medium size lakes with some outstanding homes & cottages, one very natural undeveloped lake, a winding river through natural woods and wetlands, and finally the backyards of many interesting properties before arriving at the city of Jackson’s Ella Sharp Park – taking out at Maplewood Drive. Come experience the beautiful lakes and river just south of the city of Jackson!

Please arrive at the put in location no later than 11:00AM, so we have time to shuttle your vehicles to the take out location.

Please note there is the possibility of portages around some low dams, depending upon water level – but don’t worry, we’ll be there to help you!

Go to www.great-mi.org and click on Calendar to access trip map and river attributes. To reserve a canoe or kayak for this paddle, please call (517)416-4234 or email grand@great-mi.org.

Bring your own kayak or use one of GREAT’s.

The G.R.E.A.T. June trip on the Grand River trip was delayed due to weather. It was held the following Sunday and a great time was had by all who attended.
