LANSING, Mich. — National Donut Day began in 1938 to celebrate the Salvation Army’s “Donut Girls” or “Donut Lassies” in WWI, who distributed donuts to the troops to help raise morale. And we all know that a donut can be a great pick-me-up! These brave Americans posted up at or near the front lines, often serving donuts and coffee in the trenches, frying donuts in soldier’s helmets. 2nd Annual Feelin’ Groovy on National Donut Day at the Peanut Barrel
The Peanut Barrel will be serving up its traditional fare on National Donut Day with a Groovy Twist…their offerings will also include the option of substituting a traditional bun for a Glazed Donut bun or Apple Fritter Bun. They will also be serving a selection of Groovy Donuts as a dessert option. Finally, custom Long Island Iced Tea donuts will be available for purchase!

Iorio Gelato at Horrocks Farm Market is partnering with Groovy Donuts on National Donut Day to offer Groovy Donut Gelato Sandwiches. A light, fluffy yeast donut with chocolate icing drizzle will be the vessel for a delicious scoop of Iorio Gelato!
Groovy Deal on National Donut Day
Groovy Donuts will be offering a Free Classic Donut with any beverage purchase on National Donut Day (Friday June 7th). Groovy Donuts will be open from 6am – 4pm at each location. Note: the Free Classic Donut is only valid at Groovy Donuts locations (Horrocks is excluded).
Groovy Donuts are also available for purchase at Horrocks Farm Market in the donut case next to the coffee bar.
