To celebrate National Health Center Week and the completion of renovations, the health department and Ingham Community Health Centers invite community members to a superhero-themed health fair where they can connect with community resources and receive health screenings at no cost.

The health fair will be held in the Human Services Building, door 3, located at 5303 S. Cedar Street in Lansing on August 15, 12-5 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m.

“We have much to share and celebrate,” said Ingham County Health Officer Linda S. Vail. “Our newly renovated space allows us to better serve our patients and clients, and the health fair includes resources to increase access to care and help school-age children go back to school this fall.”

Walk-in hearing and vision screenings, required for kindergarten entry, will be offered all week, Aug. 13-17, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Immunizations Clinic is also open daily by appointment and walk-in for students needing vaccinations prior to the start of the new school year.

The building renovations, funded by a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), include a centralized check-in area and waiting room.

The Ingham County Health Department’s Community Health Centers are part of a nationwide network of health centers celebrating more than 50 years providing healthcare. In Michigan, health centers serve more than 680,000 patients and more than half rely upon Medicaid.
