Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare their taste buds for the Downtown Chili Cook-Off.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 1 from noon to 4 p.m. in East Lansing. It's free and you can enjoy samples of chili at participating restaurants and rank the samples in a number of categories.
The restaurant that receives the most points will be presented with the 2017 Golden Spoon trophy for the best East Lansing chili.
Balloons will be affixed to the outside of participating businesses on the day of the event.
