There's an event happening this weekend that will not only be fun for your family, but also very educational and could even  save your life. Tomorrow you can head on over to the Central Fire Station in Okemos for a day of fire education and fire department activities to take part in the Second Annual Fire Prevention Open House. This event will be held in honor fire safety week and runs from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Also on Saturday, the Harris Nature Centre will be hosting their Autumn Nature and Color Walk. The two hour guided walk with a Harris Center Naturalist will begin at 2 p.m. Admission is 3 dollars per person or 7 dollar for families.

Finally, the Greater Lansing Food Bank and restaurant Troppo will be holding the 27th annual Empty Bowls luncheon today from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A 20 dollar donation will give you 10 days to select a hand-made bowl made by the Greater Lansing Potters Guild , Clayworks Pottery, and other local artisans. There will also be a light meal of soup and bread. Proceeds from the event will go to the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
