Adrian International Film Festival Coming May 17-18

ADRIAN, Mich. — The 2019 Adrian International Film Festival (AF 2019) lineup is finalized! Take a walk down the red carpet at the historic Croswell Opera House and breathe in the buttery goodness of movie theater popcorn this May 17-18 as you check out the film festival lineup.

Highlights for this year’s festival include opening speaker Joshua Burge (The Revenant 2015, Relaxer 2018), the opening screener of “When Jeff Tried to Save the World” directed by Kendall Goldberg and producers Shane Simmons and Jimmy Seargeant, the Friday evening outdoor screening of “Relaxer” by Grand Rapids filmmaker Joel Potrykus, as well as features, documentaries, and shorts from around the world including “Making Coco: The Grant Fuhr Story,” by filmmaker Don Metz.

The festival will also host three film market events, including the world-premiere of “The Fiddling Horse” by director CJ Wallis and producer Mallory Kennedy. Wallis and Kennedy will also serve as the festival’s closing program speakers. (The entire lineup is available at the AF 2019 website.)

Five feature films will be shown at the Croswell Opera House (129 E. Maumee St.), the documentary feature films will be playing at the Armory Event Center (230 W. Maumee St.), documentary shorts and animated shorts at the Lenawee Historical Society (110 E. Church St.) and student films in the Adrian City Council Chambers (159 E. Maumee St.). Films shown May 17 will run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on May 18 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Additionally, the festival will utilize the parking lot at the corner of West Maumee Street and Winter Street for local food vendors, pedal pub trolley rides and the AF pass holders tent with live music on Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. New for 2019 will be a chance to view the official pace car from Michigan International Speedway.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.AdrianFilm.org/passes. Four different passes are offered ranging from $10 to $60.

The Adrian International Film festival is a not-for-profit event tailored towards the renaissance of downtown Adrian, MI. This event focuses on strengthening the community atmosphere by promoting walking, bicycling, and other healthy well-being activities. Proceeds from this event will be donated towards downtown beautification projects.
