Posted

You'll soon spot the Salvation Army bell ringers outside stores if you haven't already.

The charity officially kicks off its Red Kettle campaign on Thursday at the Lansing City Hall. The campaign runs through Christmas Eve. The holiday campaign is the Salvation Army's largest fundraising event and the goal this year is to raise 230,000 to help mid-Michigan families.

If you want to volunteer, contact the Salvation Army.

And for Veteran's Day on Friday, free breakfast for veterans is being offered from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Big Boy on North Cedar Street in Mason. Any veteran can stop by and enjoy a trip to the breakfast buffet as a thank you for their service.

There will be a Veteran's Day ceremony at 11:11 a.m. at the Ingham County Courthouse in Mason. A parade will be held at 3 p.m. Friday starting at Mason First Church.

An open house will be held at the VFW post on Hull Road in Mason, immediately following the parade.
