MASON, Mich. — Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter is reaching capacity for dogs and cats in their care. Even with the new expanded facilities, the shelter is working through the tail end of the busiest season of the year. In July, there were 277 cats brought to the shelter, and 113 dogs. With these high volume numbers coming into the shelters care, adoption discounts are just another step to reduce the number of furry shelter residents.
Ingham County Animal Control is now holding a “Name Your Price” adoption special. What does this mean? The shelter is letting you set your adoption fee. It can be $0, $5, $50? You set the price! Once prospective adopters have met the shelter animal they want to adopt and complete their adoption interview, they are able to name their own adoption fee*. They say money can’t buy happiness, but being able to choose your own fee to adopt a new family member is pretty close.
Presently on the adoption floor, there are approximately 20 dogs looking for their forever homes, and over 60 cats and kittens. New animals are becoming available for adoption every day. Dog adopters must still purchase a dog license for $15. Adoption application process still applies; please bring lease or landlord approval if applicable. Adoptions are first come first serve, and end 30 minutes prior to the shelter closing to allow for appropriate adoption interviews. So head to the shelter today to meet all of the awesome dogs and cats looking for new homes.
