Dozens of silver bullets will roll into Mid-Michigan this morning. Urban Air is back in Eaton Rapids for the 5th year and more than 100 airstreams will be parked on the streets of Eaton Rapids for the event.
The aluminum travel trailers have been turning heads for decades, since they first hit America's highways back in the 1930s. Urban Air allows people from all over the country, even Canada, to travel together and camp out in communities.
The event also allows travelers to connect with the local community. Over the years airstreamers have made plenty of friends with people in Eaton Rapids.
City manager Jon Stopples says "We're always looking for ways to make the city a great place to live and work." He says Urban Air adds to the community's vibrancy and hospitality.
Campers will arrive this morning around 10 a.m. and check in. Tonight there will be a pot luck dinner and live music. This weekend visitors will be able to check out the airstreams parked in downtown Eaton Rapids. The event runs through September 25.
