LANSING, Mich. — Road conditions are snowy and slick this morning, plan for extra time on your morning commute. Thankfully, we will see improvements throughout the day and your evening commute should be fine. Warmer air will build in from south to north this morning, and we’re already seeing the snow transitioning over to a wintry mix and freezing rain. Freezing rain will be possible for a couple hours until temperatures can climb above freezing around 9 A.M.. Once temperatures rise above freezing, the precipitation will become just rain and scattered rain showers will remain possible until late afternoon before tapering off around 5P.M.. Expect a strong southerly wind at 10-20 MPH, high temperatures today will climb to around 40 degrees.

Skies will become mostly cloudy tonight with lows dropping into the mid 20s by daybreak Thursday. Tomorrow looks quiet with partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 30s. Another storm system is expected to impact the area on New Years Day. At this point, it looks like we’ll start off with a wintry mix around midday on Friday, and then transition to all rain during the afternoon as temperatures warm into the mid 30s.

Snow showers look possible early Saturday, but the majority of the day will be spent under mostly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 30s. There’s a chance of a few more snow showers on Sunday in our southern counties. Sunday high temperatures will be in the mid 30s.

Monday and Tuesday next week looks dry with partly to mostly cloudy skies and above average temperatures in the upper 30s.
