LANSING, Mich. — The sunshine finally returns as we wrap up the workweek. Starting partly cloudy today then turning mostly sunny at least for a few hours this afternoon. Our southern counties may hold on to the cloud cover a bit longer but by the late afternoon, everyone will be under mostly sunny skies. A little warmer today compared to yesterday with temps warming into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. Partly cloudy skies tonight and it stays dry and chilly with lows in the low 50s.

Clouds build back in Saturday becoming mostly cloudy again. Staying dry through the daylight hours and it will be warm with highs in the mid 70s. Our next system moves in late Saturday and we will see scattered showers and thunderstorms by the evening hours. Showers and storms last overnight Saturday and carry over into the morning hours Sunday. Rain will linger through sunrise Sunday before we dry out and clear out Sunday afternoon. Partly cloudy overall on Sunday with temperatures in the mid 70s, which is near seasonable for mid- September.

Next week, with high pressure in control, we will experience a very different week. Calm and quiet Monday through Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and moderating temperatures. Highs in the upper 60s Monday, lows 70s Tuesday, and then warming to near 80 degrees by Wednesday. Thursday will be partly cloudy with a chance for late day showers. Highs in the mid 70s Thursday.
