LANSING, Mich. — Today is the first official day of fall. The Autumnal equinox starts at 9:30 this morning signaling the start of astronomical fall and the beginning of a new season. It will be beautiful today with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s. A few clouds will cross through this afternoon, but we still stay mostly sunny. Mainly clear tonight with lows in the mid 50s. Not as chilly, but still good sleeping weather if you want to open up the windows.

Wednesday through Saturday will be dry and warm. A mix of clouds and sun expected Wednesday and almost feeling more like summer with high temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Partly cloudy skies Thursday and mostly sunny Friday with highs in the mid 70s. Another mostly sunny day Saturday and warm with highs once again in the upper 70s.

Things begin to change on Saturday night into Sunday. Scattered showers and storms will start late overnight Saturday increasing in coverage and intensity Sunday morning. Rain and a few thunderstorms will then last through the afternoon Sunday bringing in some heavy rain. Showers will taper off Sunday evening and we’ll catch a short break from the rain. Slightly cooler with the rain Sunday as highs only reach the low 70s.

Feeling much more like fall next week. Cooler with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s Monday afternoon. Showers will linger off and on through the day Monday, but it won’t be a washout.
