Steamiest Day of our Hot Streak is Thursday

Muggy, late storms, and heat index near 100

LANSING, Mich. — With high humidity, warmth streaming in from the south and the sun beating down between scattered thunderstorms, Thursday will be the steamiest day we've seen during this stretch of prolonged heat.

Highs will reach the middle 90s with the heat index near and above 100 degrees, at times. Staying hydrated and cool will be paramount.

The day begins with sunshine ahead of a few midday clouds. Temps will surge into the 90s by noon with showers and thunderstorms set to pop during the middle to late afternoon hours.

Activity starts to fade into the evening, but the mugginess will stick around with another night of low temperatures in the 70s.

Temperatures will be a bit cooler on Friday with more widespread rain and storms, but humidity will still be an issue until the mid-weekend.

Saturday through Monday will feature high temperatures in the low to middle 80s and less humidity, providing some relief (in addition to the rain chances over the next couple days).

Overnight lows in the lower 60s will make for much better sleeping weather than we've had as of late. Enjoy the stretch as best you can.

...that's because the hotter air returns by the middle of next week with, perhaps, the start of another heat wave. Highs will be back into the 90s through at least the following weekend!
