Showers and Storms Coming This Way, and a Relief From the Sauna-like Weather

LANSING, Mich. — Hopefully everyone is staying cool out there, because today was, and still is, awfully oppressive across Mid-Michigan. Southwest flow ahead of an advancing cold front is the culprit for the increased heat and humidity and we will keep that muggy flow until the frontal passage tomorrow afternoon. Some showers and storms are approaching from the west but they have weakened considerably with the loss of daytime instability. We will be mostly cloudy and very muggy overnight with a chance for showers throughout. That will be the case tomorrow morning as well, but our chance for showers and storms increases as the front closes in on us late in the morning. We will see more widespread activity by around noontime lasting through the early afternoon, and some storms that move through could be on the stronger side (especially south and east of Lansing) with heavy downpours and gusty winds the primary concern. Behind the passing cold front, we will dry out and clear out setting up a near perfect workweek with a lot of sunshine and seasonable temps in the low 80s.
