Quick moving storm system brings 2-4'' of snow

Posted

An area of low pressure racing our way from the Northwest will spread snow into mid-Michigan tonight. By Tuesday morning most of Mid-Michigan will have a fresh 2-4'' snowfall. A few areas along I-94 West of Jackson may see slightly heavier amounts of snow.

Scattered snow showers continue behind the storm Tuesday afternoon along with gusty winds. The fluffy nature of the snow may allow some blowing and drifting in open areas on Tuesday. High temperatures Tuesday will be in the low to mid 30s.

The timing of the heaviest snowfall tonight into early Tuesday may slow the morning commute. A positive note is that temperatures will be warmer Tuesday morning compared to this morning, so treated roadways should melt quickly.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Lansing and Jackson areas tonight through 11 a.m. Tuesday.
