Occasional Snow Showers and Gusty Winds Through Tuesday

LANSING, Mich. — Good Sunday evening! Another nice day to wrap up the weekend but things have started going downhill with the first (of two) systems having moved through as a weak cold front. No real impacts from the passing front, apart from sparking a cooling trend that will bring more average temperatures for the coming workweek in the 30's to low 40's.

Our attention now turns to the potent storm system lifting northward from the deep south. This system will pass east of us with the center tracking along the Appalachians and eventually into southern Ontario. The trend continues to take the low a bit further to the east, which will mean less impacts for us to start the workweek. As of this evening, it looks like the only real impacts for us here in Mid-Michigan will be gloomy, overcast skies, a stout breeze and occasional snow showers Monday and Tuesday. The best chance for several inches of accumulation will be east of Lansing/Jackson and especially closer to Detroit and the thumb region.

From Lansing to Jackson, I think a trace - 2" will be the likely outcome from Monday-Tuesday with the primary concern being Monday night into Tuesday morning where temps will drop below freezing and some slick spots may develop on the roadways. From Wednesday onward we dry out and see a good bit of sunshine to wrap up the workweek.

Have a great week! -Meteorologist Caleb Meute
