Near Record Warmth and Plenty of Sun Lasting Into Tuesday

LANSING, Mich. — WOW, what a day across Mid-Michigan. It sure felt like early November out there... Except, not really! If you enjoyed today, the good news is that the nice weather is here to stay for the next few days. Lots of the nation currently residing beneath a broad upper level ridge of high pressure which is allowing warmer air to surge northward, while keeping the cooler Canadian air to the north. Jackson set a daily record high today, and Lansing was close but it looks like we were a degree shy of the record of 72 degrees F, which was set over 100 years ago.

Over the next few days, the ridge pretty much stays in the exact same place so we will continue to bake beneath it, with each day adding a degree or two to our highs. Expect lots of sunshine to go along with the warmth at least through Tuesday early on. Clouds thicken up late Tuesday and a cold front swings through Tuesday night bringing showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder. Behind the front, we return to normalcy for the second half of the coming workweek with temps in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Enjoy the warmth while we have it! -Meteorologist Caleb Meute
