LANSING, Mich. — Today will feature a myriad of conditions but we will start off warm under a mix of sun and clouds with temps climbing towards the 70-degree mark by around noontime. Through the afternoon, a strong cold front barrels through the region bringing showers, a few thunderstorms and gusty winds along its passage. Any thunderstorms that do form will have the potential to become severe (especially in our southern counties), with the primary concerns being small hail and damaging wind gusts. Behind the front, our temperatures begin to fall so by the time you are heading home from work, you might need a jacket out there. Winds will stay gusty through the evening before slackening overnight as we begin to clear out.
Saturday starts off quite chilly with temps in the mid 30's and I think it will be a pretty nice day out there for the Spartans opener, but keep that jacket handy as highs only climb into the upper 40's. Clouds thicken back up Saturday night, and we have another system looking to bring scattered showers late Sunday into the wee hours of Monday morning, which could bring some snowflakes as well.
Through next Thursday, our temperatures stay unseasonably cool in the 40's with multiple chances for showers.
