LANSING, Mich. — Some significant weather impacts are on the way, beginning with tonight's rain. The spotty showers today will be only a nuisance, whereas the soaking rain overnight will cause problems. Flooding is likely with rainfall totals easily exceeding 2.0" in many spots before changing over to freezing rain and sleet early Saturday.
With that change comes even greater problems, as significant icing would cause widespread power outages and make travel nearly impossible for much of the day on Saturday. We seem to be in the sweet spot for ice threat here in Mid-Michigan, so we'll have to keep a close eye on this.
With freezing rain and sleet, even a small temperature difference of just one degree can change the entire end result. This forecast will evolve in real time and will be frequently updated. Be sure to check back in with us for details!
