LANSING, Mich. — After a day of cooler air where highs for most only reached the upper 70s, Mother Nature brings the steamy weather right back for our weekend.
Highs top out in the upper 80s on Friday, with some touching 90. Even with lots of sun and little wind, Friday's humidity won't be nearly as excessive as we'll get on Saturday.
The sauna-like air filters in from the southwest early in the day with dew points rising into the 70s. Coupled with highs well into the 90s, the heat index is expected to be near 100 degrees during the peak heating of the afternoon.
The only relief one might hope for is a stray afternoon pop-up shower or thunderstorm, but it's looking more likely that any activity will hold off until late overnight on Saturday.
While not quite as muggy, Sunday keeps some of the humidity around but high temps will end up a few degrees cooler and there's a better chance for rain showers or storms.
Temperatures are back in the 80s for next week, but humidity sticks around along with plenty of hit-or-miss opportunities for rain. The long range supports this trend's continuation, too!
