A Break from the Heat this Week

Highs closer to average and mainly dry for the stretch

LANSING, Mich. — The grip of the July heat is released for a couple days, or at least most of this week.

A comfortable period with highs in the low to middle 80s is headlining our forecast with a rain chance overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Quiet conditions beyond midweek will give way to the return of highs close to 90 degrees by the weekend, and a few spotty storm chances, too.

The pattern past Wednesday may offer chances to see Comet NEOWISE as it makes its closest pass to the Earth. Look in the northwest sky between 10:00pm and midnight below the Big Dipper.

NEOWISE will be best viewed with a telescope or binoculars, which are able to clearly pick up its tail. Countless great photos from across the country have been circulating online. How cool!
