Suspect arraigned on firearm, felony assault charges

Michigan State University Police arrested Torey Antoine Childress on August 24th at Abbot Road and West Grand River Avenue for threatening a student while holding a firearm.

The incident occurred near North Case Hall at about 6 p.m.

Childress, 20, is from East Lansing and does not have any affiliation with Michigan State University.

He was arraigned this afternoon in East Lansing's 54-B District Court before Judge Richard D. Ball on the following two charges: felony warrant for carrying a concealed weapon (five-year felony) and assault with a dangerous weapon (four-year felony).

He was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

His pretrial appearance is set for Sept. 2, and a preliminary examination is scheduled for Sept. 8.
