Spartans look ahead to upcoming season

In just over a month, the Michigan State basketball team will hit the hardwood for the start of another season.

And on Wednesday, the Spartans kicked off practice at the Berkowitz Basketball Complex.

MSU enters this coming season on the heels of a heart-breaking loss to Syracuse last year, along with accusations that the program mishandled sexual assault allegations.

MSU basketball coach Tom Izzo says this season provides players and students with a fresh start.

"Hopefully we're learning from the past and moving forward to make sure this is the greatest, safest place for students with their health, safety, and all things we have to address," he said.

The NCAA cleared both the MSU football and basketball programs of any wrongdoing last month.
