Everyday Feminism founder and publisher Sandra Kim is invited to speak at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. as part of MSU Women's Resource Center's "Gender and its Intersections Series."

"Building Inclusive Leadership to Develop Anti Oppression Work Environments" is the theme of the night.

Kim will be covering how many forms of oppression, intentional or not, exist in work environments.

"If we don’t proactively address this, we are going to be unintentionally, accidently perpetuating systemic oppression without even realizing it," Kim said.

Her speech will address concrete steps for leaders to take in order to create a flourishing work environment.

"Creating a space where our employees feel valued as full, complete, complex human beings will help them be able to bring all their energies –their full selves into their work."

Along with the speech, Kim will be hosting a workshop on how to differentiate intersectional and privileged listening.

"Often times when we talk about sexism or racism, if somebody hasn’t experienced that or viewed it as such, it can be very hard for them to really hear it and be supportive of somebody," Kim said.

She will be teaching the audience real-life skills on how to listen and understand people who come from different backgrounds and experiences.
