TheEli and Edythe Broad Art Museumpresents an exhibition by Chicago-based artist Jan Tichy, opening Saturday as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Artist Studio Series.
The content for "Beyond Streaming: A Sound Mural for Flint" was gathered from Tichy’s residency at MSU, which was held from September to December.
During his residency, Tichy held workshops with 80 students from Carman-Ainsworth High School in Flint and Everett High School, exploring how different forms of creative expression can be used to communicate ideas and messages.
Themes touched on social and restorative justice, and topics included the role of art in society, the artistic process and the Flint water crisis.
Tichy is well known for his large-scale, community-based initiatives, such as “Project Cabrini Green” and “Heat Light Water.”
The museum will host Family Day on Feb. 4 and an altered tour on March 3.
