 A MSU researcher just got a lump-sum of money to find a cure for a deadly disease.

Terrie Taylor received $8.4 million to research cerebral malaria.

It causes children with the disease to develop swollen brains, which causes them to stop breathing.

The federal funds will be used to test a saline solution that could potentially reduce brain swelling and save lives
