Ingham County Prosecutor Carol Siemon says her office has received follow-up reports on the sex-assault investigation involving 3 Michigan State University football players and one staff member. Siemon says the evidence gathered by MSU police is being reviewed by her staff and more information will be released "upon further developments."
A woman says she was sexually assaulted in late January. The players and a football staff member were suspended on February 9. The University has not released their names. The University has confirmed that football Director of College Advancement and Performance Curtis Blackwell is suspended but has not said if the suspension is related to the investigation. On February 17, MSU police requested a warrant for Obstructing an Investigation. All the department will say is that the warrant is not for a football player. That request came a few days after the department turned the case over to the prosecutor's office. Siemon said she needed to see more evidence and asked police to continue investigating.
At this time no one has been arrested or charged in the case. The 3 players have been banned from campus housing and are suspended from the football team. They are still allowed to attend classes. News 10 and wilx.com will have updates as soon as more information is available.
