The Meridian Township Police Department tells us the sexual assault complain was taken last Sunday, April 9. Police have confirmed the investigation involves an MSU football player. Michigan State University President Lou Anna K. Simon tells us head football coach Mark Dantonio suspended the player pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed to us that a fourth Michigan State University football player is under investigation for sexual assault. The Meridian Township Police Department is handling the investigation. It is not releasing the player's name or the date of the alleged incident. This is not connected to the ongoing investigation involving three players and a staff member.

During a the Big Ten spring teleconference call Wednesday, MSU football coach Mark Dantonio said some players have been put in what he called "red lock." He said players are placed in red lock for different reasons and move in and out of it based on their situation. He brought up the red lock after being asked if any players had been suspended since the April 1 spring game.

Michigan State announced on February 9 that three players and a staff member were suspended as part of a sexual assault investigation. The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office has not determined if they'll be charged or not. MSU would not identify any of them. The University has confirmed that Director of College Advancement and Performance Curtis Blackwell is suspended but will not say if that's related to the sexual assault investigation. MSU Police are pursuing a fourth person in that case who's suspected of obstructing the investigation.
