Janae Currington, assistant director of academic advising in the College of Natural Science, is a recipient of the National Academic Advising Association Great Lakes Region 5 Excellence in Advising Primary Role award.
The award recognizes individuals making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising within higher education.
“Janae is an exceptionally dedicated advisor,” said Mark Voit, associate dean for undergraduate studies in the College of Natural Science.“I deeply value her insights about students and her ability to mentor others in the art of student advising.”
“I am humbled and honored to have been selected for this award and truly appreciate the opportunities that the College of Natural Science has given me to grow in this field and be recognized,” Currington said. “I am fortunate to have leadership that supports my professional growth both inside and outside of MSU and also allows me the flexibility to look at creative ways to reach and support our students.”
Currington will receive her award at the NACADA Great Lakes Region 5 meeting on March 17 in Rosemont, Illinois.
