The Spartan Hospitality Group and the MSU Tennis Center welcome Diane Selke as a tennis professional.
Selke returns to Michigan after living in Colorado, where she was director and head tennis professional at Valley Country Club. She has been teaching tennis for 37 years, and a U.S. Professional Tennis Association professional since 1996. Selke, the only female USPTA Master Pro in Michigan, was the only woman USPTA Master Pro in Colorado. She received the USPTA Intermountain Pro of the Year award in 1989, 2003, 2006 and 2009.
“We are very excited to have Diane back in Michigan and joining our MSU Tennis Center team,” said Heather Mactaggart, MSU Tennis Center manager. “Her expertise, knowledge and enthusiasm will have an immediate impact on all of our programs. This will allow us to continue to provide high-quality products and services to meet the needs of the university as well as the Lansing community.”
Selke is a former Spartan Big Ten singles and doubles champion. Selke played for the MSU women’s tennis team from 1975 to 1979 and received the prestigious MSU Nell C. Jackson Outstanding Alumna Award in 2009.
She is also an avid volunteer for many organizations such as the USTA Colorado District, Save Our Children Society, and the American Cancer Society. She founded the “Kids Cure for Cancer Tennis Tournament,” which has raised more than $100,000 annually. She has served in many capacities for the USPTA including her current role as a two-year term vice president on the board of directors.
