The Michigan State University Athletic Department says that MSU women's basketball head coach Suzy Merchant has taken a medical leave of absence.
Associate head coach Amaka Agugua will act as the interim head coach while Merchant is away.
After the team played on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Rutgers University, Merchant experienced symptoms similar to an earlier incident during a January 1 game against Illinois. She stayed in New Jersey to undergo more testing at a local hospital.
After the first epidsode, Merchant missed the Spartans next game, but was back on the court by January 7. No immediate date for her return has been determined.
