Michigan State University will be putting up solar arrays at carports around campus.

They will be installed at five parking lots, and the carports will be tall enough to cover RVs at tailgate parties.

MSU says the arrays will generate about 15,000 megawatt hours, which is about 5-percent of the electricity used on campus in a year.

It’s expected to save $10 million over 25 years.
