Michigan State University is banning whiteboards from students' doors after reports of negative messages and bullying.
University officials said the ban will cut down on the number of anonymous hateful messages left outside dorm rooms.
Last week, a Facebook post by the Lansing Chapter of the NAACP said an African American student recently had a racist message written on the whiteboard outside her dorm room.
A university spokesman said the boards will be removed before the start of the fall semester. The rule will be added to the list of dorm policies this summer.
