MSU Bakers supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Posted

For the eighth consecutive year, MSU Bakers is supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with cranberry bagels called “Gwen’s Bagels.”

Each bagel is made from scratch and baked fresh. MSU baker Rita Lyon developed the recipe in honor of her mother Gwen, who passed away in 1972 of breast cancer.

“To celebrate the success of the program and provide further support for the cause, our goal this year is to sell 300 dozen bagels for the month,” said Cindy Baswell, MSU Bakers manager.

Gwen’s Bagels are available through Oct. 31 and can be purchased online at msubakers.com. They will also be available daily at Sparty’s convenience stores and cafés as well as the residential dining halls located on campus. A half-dozen bagels are available for $6.50 and $1 from every order will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Wednesdays in October have been coined “Gwensday Wednesdays,” and additional pink bakery items will be served in the residential dining halls, in addition to MSU Bakers’ team members wearing pink.

MSU Bakers has been proudly serving the university community for more than 40 years, and is operated by the Department of Culinary Services within the Division of Residential and Hospitality Services.
