Michigan State University football player charged with a sex crime

Posted

Sophomore defensive end Auston Robertson is charged with 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct.

The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office says Robertson has not been arraigned yet. A hearing has not been scheduled. FOX 47 News first reported the investigation on April 13.

MSU football coach Mark Dantonio did not release Robertson's name at the time but said the player who was being investigated was suspended from all team activities as soon as he learned about the situation on April 9. That's the day the incident was reported to Meridian Township Police.

This investigation is not connected to another case involving three Michigan State players and a football staff member. Those players and the staff member have been suspended from the team and banned from campus housing. Their names have not been released.

MSU Police handled the investigation and handed the case over to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutor Carol Siemon has not decided if they will be charged. Director of College Advancement and Performance Curtis Blackwell is currently suspended but Michigan State will not say if that's because of the sex-assault investigation.
