Michigan State redshirt freshman kicker Matt Coghlin has been named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after delivering the game-winning field goal as time expired to defeat No. 7 Penn State, 27-24. Coghlin connected on a 34-yard field goal on the last play of regulation to give the Spartans a dramatic victory over the Nittany Lions and push MSU into a tie for first place in the Big Ten East Division.
Coghlin also hit a 32-yard field goal with 10:56 left in the game to tie the game at 24. In addition, he was 3-for-3 in point-after attempts.
