Juli Wade has been appointed to serve as associate provost for faculty and academic staff development beginning Sept. 8. As associate provost, she will provide leadership for the Academic Advancement Network, or AAN.
Wade currently serves as chair of the Department of Psychology and as assistant provost for faculty development - leadership development within AAN. In addition to her primary academic appointment in psychology, she is affiliated with the Department of Integrative Biology and the interdepartmental Neuroscience Program. She is a recipient of MSU’s Teacher-Scholar Award and Distinguished Faculty Award.
“I have every confidence in Dr. Wade’s ability to provide seamless leadership during this time of transition and to advance the mission of AAN in the coming years,” said June Pierce Youatt, MSU provost.
Wade came to MSU in 1995 as an assistant professor, following a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Psychology and Brain Research Institute at the University of California at Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992 and her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 1987. Her research, which focuses on genetic and hormonal mechanisms regulating structural and functional changes in the brain, has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health since 1996 and the National Science Foundation from 1998 to 2015.
Wade steps into this new associate provost role as Elizabeth Simmons, who has served as the inaugural associate provost for faculty and academic staff development, prepares to depart for a new appointment as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of California at San Diego.
