The Michigan State University Grand Rapids Research Center has received a certificate of excellence and has been honored as “Best New Construction” project by the Grand Rapids Neighborhood Business Alliance during its 28th Annual Neighborhood Business Awards ceremony.
The annual awards program, which took place on November 2, recognizes area businesses, organizations and individuals for their significant contribution to neighborhood improvement and economic development within the City of Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss was joined by city commissioners in presenting the awards.
“This award is a tremendous honor for Michigan State University,” said Vennie Gore, vice president for auxiliary enterprises at MSU. “We believe our research center is a catalyst for economic development and look forward to further collaborations with our North Monroe Business District partners.”
Accepting the award on behalf of MSU College of Human Medicine was Jack Lipton, chair of the college's Department of Translational Science and Molecular Medicine.
The Grand Rapids Neighborhood Business Alliance is an information and advocacy organization and is made up of representatives from all 20 neighborhood associations.
