Three former MSU football players accused of sexual assault were back in court Thursday. Joshua J. King, Donnie L. Corley Jr., Demertric Vance were in East Lansing District 54B court for a preliminary exam conference.
At the conference a judge decided to move the next conference back by three months to give the defendants' lawyers more time to examine evidence and find a time when all three attorneys would be available again. The date for the next conference is now scheduled for September 15.
A preliminary exam conference is a meeting between a defendant's attorney, the prosecution and a judge to determine how they expect the case to proceed. It is not uncommon for new dates to be set.
Joshua King has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of capturing/distributing image of an unclothed person. Vance and Corley Jr. each has been charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Police say the three were involved in a sexual assault at a party on campus January 16.
