Former Spartan brings anti-bullying message to local schools

Posted

Former MSU basketball player Anthony Ianni talked with students at the Lansing Charter Academy and Pinecrest Elementary School about how often kids with autism are bullied.

Ianni was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at age four and was bullied.

A recent article in Sports Illustrated, highlighted the fact that he is the first known person with autism to play division-one college basketball.

"I never imagined being a part of that great magazine, but the story itself is definitely getting more awareness out there, not only for my work, but for autism in general. And that's something that the autism community needs. The more and more awareness our community gets the better," said Ianni.

Ianni has been part of the Relentless Tour since it started in 2013. He told us he's on the road up to five days a week, taking the anti-bullying message to local schools.
