20-year-old Demetric Vance, a former MSU football player and student was arraigned in district court Tuesday June 6 on a count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Vance was accompanied by his parents, two extended family members, and the bishop of his church.

The prosecutor asked the judge to set bond at a $50,000 cash surety bond; the defense requested that the Vance be released on a personal recognizance bond. The judge set the bond at $10,000 cash or surety.

The judge ordered Vance to have no direct, indirect, or social media contact with the alleged victim, and to continue to abide by the terms of a personal protection order which had already been in place.

From Vance's attorney we learned that Vance has been dismissed from Michigan State University and is now living at home with his parents, looking for a new university to attend. His attorney is appealing the decision by university to dismiss him from MSU.

Vance's attorney says Vance has no criminal record, has voluntarily cooperated with the investigation and wants to clear his name.
