The MSU College of Music has a variety of upcoming events this month.

Bruce Dickey, cornetto, and Hana Blazikova, soprano

This performance will portray the virtuosic ability of the renaissance wind instrument, the cornetto. One of Europe’s leading Baroque sopranos, Bruce Dickey will perform music from 17th and 18th century Italy.

The MSU Opera Theatre will open its 2016-17 season with this comic opera, which tells the story of a man’s unfailing love for a beautiful, wealthy girl. Written by Gaetano Donizetti in the 1830s, “The Elixir of Love” is one of the most performed operas in the world. There will be a preview lecture 45 minutes prior to the performance.

Prokofiev, a Russian Giant
Joanne and Bill Church West Circle Series

The leading Soviet musician of his time, Sergei Prokofiev was a brilliant melodist and outstanding pianist. His compositions broke from the Romantic tradition and opened a path to a new kind of music. Generously sponsored by Beth and the late Dr. Milton Muelder.
