Michigan State third-year sophomore offensive tackle Cole Chewins has been named a first-team Academic All-American, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Chewins, who is a junior academically after redshirting his first season in 2015, owns a 3.91 grade-point average as a finance major. He recently was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team for the second time in his career, and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar for the 2016-17 academic year.
