Windsor native Corey Bellemore has a real chance at the 2020 games because he's the best collegiate runner in Canada. But this past week has been quite the whirlwind due to what started as a unique challenge.

Corey is like most college seniors and likes to have a little bit of fun to mix up his training regiment, so last week when he and his buddy were kind of hanging around and thinking about something different, they decided to add beer to the game and now Corey is an overnight world record holder.

"You start off with a beer, you run a lap, do another beer, do a lap, another beer and a lap and then do the final beer and final lap," Bellemore said.

Hence the name, the Beer Mile. Which is a global internet sensation. After Corey shared the video online, the website BeerMile.com caught wind of the feat, and flew him out to London to compete the next day. He didn't disappoint, breaking his own world record on the international stage.

Bellemore set the Beer Mile world record with 4:34, how much time is actually spent running and how much time is spent chugging?

"I think it ended up being around a four minute mile and the chugging was like nine or ten seconds per beer," Bellemore added.

And while Corey isn't interested in pursuing this feat as a professional act, he certainly isn't interested in giving up the crown anytime soon.

"If someone tries to beat it, I'll definitely take a jab at it again, right now I want to focus on some serious training for the University here, maybe if I could get some sponsors for it, that would be sweet too," Bellemore added.
