DETROIT (WXYZ) -- The Detroit Tigers will revert back to a smaller 'Olde English D' hat logo for the 2019 season, the team confirmed Friday.

Beat writer Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press was first to report the change.

The Tigers introduced a larger hat logo for the 2018 season, but opted to revert back for 2019 "based on fan input," according to team spokesperson Ron Colangelo.

"We made a slight adjustment to the size and positioning of the iconic Old English ‘D’," Colangelo said in reference to the change for 2019. "We love the traditional look and we’re excited for the start of the upcoming season.”

Colangelo told WXYZ the initial move to a larger logo following the 2017 season was based in part on research conducted by Major League Baseball. In addition to fan reaction, the decision to change again for 2019 was prompted in part by feedback from Hall of Fame players and others with longstanding ties to the Tigers organization.
