Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson is expected to have surgery on a broken wrist and miss the rest of the season, General Manager Ken Holland told reporters on Friday.
According to Brendan Savage of MLive, Ericsson will be out for 12 weeks.

Ericsson left the first period of the Red Wings' game against the Capitals on Thursday night after being checked into the boards by Nicklas Backstrom.
The 32-year-old had played in 51 games this season, scoring one goal and eight assists. He averaged 19:13 on ice per game and was a minus-2.
He joins a list that continues to change of injured Red Wings which includes Jimmy Howard, Niklas Kronwall, who could be back this weekend and Frans Nielsen.
